San Francisco 7, Pittsburgh 2
at Pittsburgh, PA

SF   000 021 130 = 7-7-0
PIT 000 020 000 = 2-8-1
WP- Miller (2-2); LP- Kline (2-5)

The first-place Giants kept rolling along behind a complete game from Stu Miller. It took five innings before the Giants offense got rolling but once it did, the Bucs had no answer as they trotted out four pitchers to no avail. Hot-hitting Willie Mays got the day off but it didn't matter as Willie Kirkland and Jackie Brandt each hit home runs.

Chicago 6, Milwaukee 5 (10 innings)
at Milwaukee, WI

CHI  101 000 020 2 = 6-12-1
MIL  002 000 002 1 = 5-9-0
WP- Elston (3-2); SV- Drabowsky (1); LP- Trowbridge (1-2)

In a battle of All-Star sluggers, the Cubs outlasted the Braves. Ernie Banks and Eddie Mathews each hit two home runs for Chicago and Milwaukee, respectively. Banks' second was a two-run shot that broke a 4-4 tie in the 10th inning. Mathews' second was a two-run homer that tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. Joe Adcock hit a solo homer in the 10th but it wasn't enough for the Braves.
